    REPORTS TO: Regional Supervisor

    HISTORY and MISSION:
    The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) provides education, training and technology services to lift low-income families out of poverty. Since 2001, YPI has accomplished this by serving families in Los Angeles at 95 sites throughout the city. YPI has an annual budget of $34 million (including affiliated charter schools) and offers families education and training resources in the areas of afterschool, job training, early childhood education, physical education, adult literacy and ESL, computer literacy, charter schools, and college preparation. YPI also supports efforts to boost the capacity and effectiveness of small grassroots nonprofits that provide essential services to youth. Each year, YPI helps more than 25,000 youth and adults each year through these programs.

    JOB SUMMARY:
    Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking part-time Afterschool Assistant Site Coordinator for its Youth Services department. The Assistant Site Coordinator will work, assist, and report to the Site Coordinator. The Assistant Site Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee after school program that provides daily after school academic, recreation, and academic enrichment activities for students. Provide and facilitate academic events each month. The primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the after school program
    • Organize schedule of academic, recreation, and enrichment activities
    • Train and supervise staff in the after school program
    • Must have the ability to organize and facilitate after school program events and field trips
    • Establish and maintain communication with regular day and after school staff, school administrators, YPI staff, students and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program
    • Recruit students to ensure daily attendance requirements are sufficient
    • Follow school and YPI procedures and policies for safe operation of after school program
    • Assist in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including surveys of students, staff and parents
    • Collect, review, approve and submit timesheets by the deadline and submit all required documentation on a timely basis, including attendance, snack counts, emergency cards, permission forms, and surveys
    • Represent the mission of YPI to provide quality educational and enrichment experiences for students.
    • Travel to off-site meetings, trainings and events
    • Attend staff meetings, school meetings, and trainings as scheduled
    • Maintain accurate records. (i.e. attendance, student registration forms, staff sign-in sheets, etc.)
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High school diploma, general education diploma (GED)or equivalent education
    • Must be currently enrolled in college
    • Must present proof of original transcripts and enrollment
    • Must have experience in working with elementary school students
    • Two years of experience working in after school programs
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Ability to supervise and work in a team environment
    • Must have knowledge of computers and software applications
    • Ability to work independently and work under time pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines
    • Ability to work with varied populations, such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students
    • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.
    • Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days
    • Must have access to reliable transportation. If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.
    • CPR/First Aid Certified (Within 90 Days of Employment)
    • Must wear a staff uniform while on duty.

    COMPENSATION
    Competitive salary to commensurate with experience

    WORK SCHEDULE:
    Part-time, primarily after school hours, some evenings and weekends
