Pacifica Christian High School is seeking a part time substitute art teacher to cover a full time faculty member out on maternity leave.

Necessary qualifications include past classroom experience, a great understanding of studio art concepts, college level coursework in studio art or art history, and an ability to relate well to a high school classroom. A background in design and photography a plus; background in scenic design or digital video editing also a plus. Classes are taught in hour and fifteen minute blocks, starting at 8:00 am and ending at 2:30pm, Monday thru Friday. Courses to teach include Beginning Drawing and Painting, Advanced/AP Studio Art, Mixed Media, and Photography. Applicants need not come up with their own course work, but should be able to implement detailed assignments organized by the art teacher, conduct a productive and fun classroom environment, and have a trained eye for critique and grading. Compensation starts at $15 an hour, but also dependent on work history, experience, and knowledge of the course material.
