Position Title: Swim Team Assistant Coach
Department: Aquatics
Status/Hours : Part-Time
Pay: $10-$12
Location : Santa Monica YMCA–1332 6th street, Santa Monica, CA 90405
General Function: Under the direction of the Director of Aquatics and the Swim Team Head Coach, the Assistant Coach assists in the supervision of all aspects of the competitive swimming program, including teaching, administration and deck coaching as a representative of the YMCA at all team events and functions. The incumbent will be also be responsible for the safety and well being of the participants in the program by enforcing policies and procedures as needed.

Qualifications
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Some coaching experience
• Some competitive swim team experience
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification
• Current Lifeguard Certification*

Major Responsibilities
• Plan swim team workouts with approval of head coach.
• Provide member services and promote the swim team program.
• Communicate as necessary with parents and other coaches regarding assignments, swimmer progress, and upcoming events.
• Manage meet entries and record meet results on the computer.
• Responsible for the overall safety of the swim team participants. Never leave participants unattended.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the deck area to prevent hazardous situations.
• Conducts try outs for new swimmers and swimmer orientations.
• Follow appropriate chain of command when reporting all issues.
• Attendance is mandatory at all meets and practices as specified in Swim Team calendar.
• Attend coaches’ clinics and special meetings as recommended by Head Coach.
• Encourage and promote team spirit and good sportsmanship at all times.
