AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost postsecondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance Theatre and Performing Arts as well as two year conservatory programs. We are currently seeking a full time, experienced and professional Bursar for our Los Angeles campus location. The Bursar will be responsible for handling students’ accounts, responding to inquiries via phone/email, data entry, daily mailings of related documentation and problem resolution / escalation as required. The Bursar will be aligned with the New York Bursar and Finance Department, as well as the Director of Administrative Services locally in Los Angeles.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Managing students’ accounts at the Los Angeles campus and providing ongoing support to students and families, while maintaining sensitivity in dealing with financial issues
• Responding to any student issues and cultivating positive relationships with school families
• Following up regularly with students regarding balances and payments
• Receiving student refunds and disbursing same to students
• Interacting and/or counseling students and families regarding financial arrangement options
• Maintaining detailed student financial records and accounts
• Reviewing and reconciling charges and credits
• Monitoring collection activities of outstanding student accounts to ensure timely recovery of payments
• Counseling new students at orientation on their payment plan process
• Interacting with Admissions, Financial Aid, and other school administrative areas as required
• Resolving problems of a difficult nature and escalating to the New York bursar and senior school administration as needed
• Preparing regular reports (daily/weekly/monthly/semester) for management at the local Los Angeles campus and the New York campus
• Handling cash and payments
• Special projects and reports as neededQualifications:
• Bachelors Degree
• 3 -5 years experience in Higher Ed Bursar/Financial Aid
• Complete understanding of confidentiality
• Strong customer service orientation; demonstrated ability to interact successfully with faculty, staff and students
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
• Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
• A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of Title IV recalculation return process and Campus Vue preferred
• Experience in financial and/or education counseling a plus
