If you are bi-lingual in English and one of these foreign languages (Korean, Armenian, or Spanish), have experience supporting children, teens & adults with autism or other developmental disability and would like to make a difference in someone’s life, we have several part-time, after school positions available in Los Angeles (area codes: 213/323/310) & Korea Town. Jay Nolan Community Services (JNCS) is a non-profit and supports individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Our mission is to help support individuals with all types of disabilities so that they may live, work, & play as independently as possible in their own homes and in their community.
DUTIES: We are looking for qualified candidates to be part of our team in supporting a children, teens or adults with a diagnosis of a developmental disability and experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors/needs. Support would be provided in the individual’s home and community. QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidates must have experience in the Human Services field, be a team player, caring, respectful, responsible, and outgoing. You must be able to use community resources to help the supported individual become independent, reach goals and play. An understanding of various cultural differences and Autism is essential. Specific types of support are based on the individual’s needs, interest and desires. You will also be required to teach community safety and awareness, social interactions, and self help skills. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. Special interest in the arts, music, sports, and other activities is a plus. The positions are part-time after school hours, Mon.-Sun., days and hours will vary and the schedule will be determined by the parents. Depending on the individual being supported, a staff person may require medical training, assist with personal hygiene, and be able to lift a person in and out of a wheelchair.
