Please read the entire post and submit only if you meet all of our requirements.We are currently looking to IMMEDIATELY hire MUSICAL THEATRE DIRERCTOR or TWO or THREE for three Broadway-style shows for various Children/Teen Musical Theatre Workshops that we produce at our theater in Woodland Hills, CA. We need outgoing, energetic, educated, and kind people to direct or assist at least one production a semester, but possibly up to three if you are qualified, and to possibly also teach all aspects of theatre, including acting, singing, and dancing to children and teens ages 6-18. You will need the skills to direct actors and teach basic choreography for a full-length musical chosen by the owners. More complicated choreography will be taught to the students by a separate dance instructor. You do not have to play piano as we provide an accompanist, but you are required to teach basic vocal technique as well. Possible upcoming musicals include Peter Pan, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Hairspray, Spring Awakening (Teen Show). You will need to commit to at least one production, consisting of a weekly rehearsal (3pm-6pm or 4pm-7pm) plus a handful of Sunday rehearsals from 12pm to 4pm. Experience in musical theatre is required, as well as a previous job with children. If your resume does not reflect both requirements, you will not be considered. A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in the Arts or a current student is desired, but it is not mandatory. We are also IMMEDIATELY HIRING SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANT DIRECTORS/CHOREOGRAPHERS/VOCAL COACHES/ACTING INSTRUCTORS, who will work up to four shifts a week from 9:00am to 5:00pm between the months of April and August. Our base rate is $25.00/hour for an extremely experienced Director and $15.00/hour for Assistant Directors/Choreograhers/Vocal Coaches/Acting Instructors.
