About the AJCC:

The Alpert Jewish Community Center (AJCC) is an integral part of the Long Beach Community which houses a boutique-style fitness center. We pride ourselves on a welcoming environment with a focus on providing special service to each of our members. We have been a presence in Long Beach for over 60 years.

About the Position:
The Fitness and Wellness Center Manager is full-time and will manage a team of 20 employees, which includes both Personal Trainers and Group X Instructors. This position ensures that a high quality fitness experience is delivered to all members. The Manager will evaluate effectiveness of current programs, develop new programs, provide staff training, and set a “fitness example”. This position is multi-faceted with a variety of responsibilities which keep the role interesting. We are looking for someone with a passion for fitness, current knowledge of trends and experience managing a successful team.

Additional Requirements:
• 3 years of experience managing a team of 10+ direct reports including responsibility for hiring, training and performance management

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• Recent experience running, operating and growing a large department or a small business
• Proven experience creating and implementing successful programs
• Experience marketing fitness and wellness programs

• A role model for fitness and wellness
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to make small group presentations, effectively resolve concerns and demonstrate enthusiasm for the program and the organization
• Must have some flexibility in working hours to properly attend and evaluate all programs and meetings
• Detail oriented and organized

Certifications:
National Certification (One or more of the following certifications is preferred):

American Council on Exercise (ACE)
International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA)
National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF)
National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA)
National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT)
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) from approved organization
