INTERIOR DESIGNER / MARKETING MERCHANDISER / BRAND IMAGING (Gardena)

  • Do you have the ability to define and design a company’s vision for creating a new “branding image”? Can you create your own vision for a company’s interior design with an eye towards its marketing, merchandising, and sales?

We are a well-established family of retail gas stations/convenience stores in premier locations throughout Southern California. Currently we are looking for someone to help us create an “interior design” and “brand image” throughout our numerous store locations.

We want to unite our stores, create a consistency among them. Our customers should know it – they should feel it — when they step into one of our stores. You should be able to help our management team define and create a vision for a new interior design / a marketing and merchandising scheme, and help steer its implementation. Can you help us create a distinctive, creative, beautiful, yet functional interior design and marketing scheme for our stores? (We do have some specific ideas of our own, which we will discuss with you if we end up meeting together.)

This project won’t be easy. You will have to contend with the necessities of designing within a convenience store – gondolas/carousels, cold storage, racks of snacks, etc. But you will have the license to be creative. Very creative. We want the interior design to be compelling yet also conducive to sales. We are a chain of convenience stores — but that doesn’t mean we have to look like typical convenience stores!

Are you an interior designer? Perhaps a marketing professional? Maybe you are a recent graduate of design or architectural school? Do you have any experience in the retail gas station/convenience store industry? Have you worked as a marketing merchandiser? Have you ever helped create a brand image? Maybe you have worked in industrial design or graphic arts? Perhaps a set designer or art director? Any of these backgrounds, with a strong streak of creativity from you, might qualify you for this free-lance position.

We invite you to submit your résumé to us along with some samples of your interior designs, set designs, or marketing ideas. Show us some of your previous great designs / ideas for interiors (especially retail) and/or brand images to convince us we should speak with you! Please submit your information through Craigslist (no faxes or phone calls, please). However, if you will be sending samples of your work, and Craigslist cannot handle them, let us know and we will email you back with an alternate email address you can use. NOTE: Please limit your sample(s) to no more than 6 pages. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!
