Network Technician (Los Angeles)

  • Position Summary:
    Day to day management of the local area network, wide area network, and the proper functioning and security of all networking equipment connected to that network. Consults and collaborates primarily with Network Engineers, Developers , and other IT technicians. Must be well organized, motivated, and possess strong interpersonal skills, time management skills, decision-making skills, and technical skills.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    Responsible for providing effective ongoing operation, support, administration and maintenance of network systems hardware, software and related infrastructure.
    Assists with the installation, configuration, and testing of network system implementations.
    Administers user accounts and permissions, writes scripts to automate tasks and applies updates, patches or hotfixes to systems.
    Develops security and network documentation and recommends improvements to related processes.

    Participates in needs identification, solution selection and development of security and network solutions.

    Applies analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to assist in the identification and resolution of the root cause of issues.

    Wire and configure DS3s,T1′s, WAN, LAN’s , Point to Point and VoIP.

    Ensures all security and network hardware and software issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.

    Resolves assigned problems or escalates them as appropriate.

    Provides direct technical support and assistance with problem resolution of security and network software and components when required.

    Proactively identifies opportunities to optimize network performance, security, reliability and availability.
    Qualifications

    Required qualifications:

    * technical experience in a distributed LAN/WAN environment.
    * Advanced expertise and knowledge of Cisco VoIP , SIP and TDM connections
    * Experience with Windows Server (physical and virtual) security configuration.
    * Experience managing an enterprise controller based wireless solution.
    * Experience managing remote firewall’s and switches.
    * Knowledge of VPN’s, Internet, and firewall technology.
    * Knowledge of network component products and software in a server-based processing environment.
    * Ability to demonstrate fundamental technical understanding of communications networks, such as protocols, network components, design elements and architecture.
    * Advanced knowledge of platform operating systems (Windows, router platforms, LAN, WAN, and router protocols) and how they interact with the network.
    * Experience installing, configuring and maintaining MS Office.
    * Experience and extremely responsive with trouble-shooting networks in a switched environment.
    * Commitment to excellence in service and performance. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
    * Motivated with strong client service orientation. Strong oral and written communication skills.
    * Ability to communicate to all levels of management. A personal desire to develop a balanced set of business, technical and leadership skills.
    * The ability to work independently with minimal supervision keeping management informed with timely project status reports

    Additional desired qualifications:

    * Experience with Cisco VoIP (SIP and H323)
    * Experience with Solarwinds desired. Experience with MS Office. Experience with MS SQL.
    * Working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, LAN, TCP/IP, MS SQL
    * Content Filtering Solutions.
    * Internet Security using SSL, etc, and a strong Web Background.
    * Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
