Online News Editor (work from home)
-
We’re looking for a news/current events junkie, who is an eager and aggressive online editor. Somebody who knows where to find the political, social and entertainment stories that everybody will be talking about — 3 hours before everybody is actually talking about them. And, best of all, you can post clean, sharp, accurate stories at the speed of light. That means original copy and sifting through syndicated content — as well as crafting strong, punchy headlines. You are always dependable, super quick, flexible and friendly. Nothing is ever an issue or big deal. Writing experience is important and you must know the difference between a compelling story (as well as headline) and a dull one. You have to have an open mind, considering you’ll need to post many things you’ll disagree with.
This is a part-time job — perfect for somebody who is looking to supplement his or her income — with the potential of becoming more if it’s a good fit. Your hours are 1-4 p.m. Pacific Time each day, Monday through Friday. Again, that may expand to more hours, especially the weekend. We’re paying $15 per hour to start. You can certainly work from home. From a technical standpoint, all you need is a fast Internet connection, a phone and Yahoo Instant Messenger.
If interested, send a resume, some links to your work — and a few paragraphs about why you’re an ideal fit.
*ALSO…
Please send us 3 story ideas that you think a news site should have at that moment of the day (So be sure to include what time/day you are sending)
Note: We’re looking for interesting/compelling article ideas, not 3 generic stories that every site has. At the same time, don’t be too obscure: We need stories lots of people want to read.
