Payroll Administrator (Torrance)

    SUMMARY

    Responsible for timely and accurate payment of wages and expense reimbursements as well as posting of all salary and expense transactions to the general ledger.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS:

    · Review hours worked information as submitted/reported by staff and review for errors/discrepancies;

    · Calculate monthly commission for all sales people per company policies;

    · Review expense reimbursement requests for completeness, accuracy, and conformity with company policy;

    · Upload payroll and expense information to payroll processing software and review for accuracy;

    · Respond to all employees’ questions regarding paychecks and investigate when needed;

    · Create and post all applicable journal entries for payroll and expense reimbursements;

    · Coordinate with HR in the addition of new employees to the payroll system;

    · Participate in the on-boarding process of new employees, including explaining company policies and procedures as they relate to payroll and expense reimbursement;

    · Set up and maintain accounts with state agencies for payroll purposes;

    · Generate accounting and payroll related reports for management as needed

    OTHER DUTIES & TASKS

    · Assist with auditors as necessary;

    · Other duties as assigned by Management.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    · Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly with MS Excel;

    · Familiarity with periodic payroll tax filings, as well as quarterly and annual filings;

    · Familiarity with wage and hour laws in CA and other states as needed;

    · Experience with payroll vendors (Paychex) is a plus;

    · Strong analytical skills;

    · Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize various tasks;

    · Understand and maintain complete confidentiality of all company and employee financial information

    QUALIFICATIONS

    · Education: Associates Degree required with a BA degree in Accounting or a related relevant field

    preferred; equivalent work experience in payroll may suffice.

    · Certification: None.

    · Experience: 2 — 4 years experience in payroll, preferably utilizing Paychex payroll software

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    · Communications: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently

    · Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person or over the phone

    · Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the phone

    · Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens

    · Physical: o Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift

    o Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities

    o Some lifting may be required on occasion, help will be provided if needed

    • Compensation: $45,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience
