MarketCast, a business unit of Reed Business Information, has an immediate opening for Programmer position. Since 2007, MarketCast has consistently been ranked in the Top 40 market research firms in the U.S. by Honomichl 50 and is a cutting-edge firm specializing in opinion research, ad-testing, and positioning studies for the entertainment industry.

The ideal candidate must be able to work with others to understand ideas and then to turn those ideas into applications that will help run the business. They should have excellent attention to detail and trouble-shooting skills as well as good communication skills. This candidate will be working on a variety of systems which are all at different stages of maturity. The individual will need to be versatile in skills and be able to move from design, to development, to implementation to documentation without issue. Current systems are programmed using ASP classic so initial programming will be heavy in this language. This person must be highly motivated and show a demonstrated track record of taking initiative to improve things.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
•Working with the Director of Applications to design and develop new applications and enhance the user experience for existing ones
•Developing application and interface components
•Participating in technical documentation efforts
•Being involved in Specification, Coding, and Testing of internal systems
•Working with the Director of Applications to migrate existing ASP Classic code over to ASP.NET

This position is a temp-to-hire position that will be based out of the MarketCast office in Los Angeles, CA.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of equivalent industry/work experience
•Excellent programming skills in Visual Basic/VBA, SQL Server, ASP Classic and ASP.NET.
•Expertise in ASP, HTML, XML, JavaScript, SQL Server for building Web Applications.
•Good knowledge and experience of relational databases, in particular SQL Server (stored procedures/triggers/views etc.).
•Good team player with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
•Analytical and problem solving ability
•Excellent programming and databases skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
