The Research Specialist II is under general supervision, conducts routine laboratory and non-routine research procedures. Tabulates data and assists with data analysis. Performs routine equipment alignment and maintenance, and orders supplies. Assists with instruction of support personnel and less experienced co-workers.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a scientific field. Masters degree preferred. Two years experience performing laboratory research.  Experience needed includes performance of a range of standard and/or technically demanding protocols including but not limited to Nucleic acid extraction, sequencing, microarray and other molecular diagnostic analyses

Skills:
Ability to conduct and document laboratory research in assigned areas. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
