A columnist/author seeks a bright, inquisitive, broad-minded
researcher to explore contemporary and historical U.S.social,
cultural, and political dynamics. The researcher must be able to bring
the expertise of the academy to bear on current debates in an
intelligent, clear, and contextualized manner, avoiding the jargon and
biases of any particular academic specialty or political viewpoint.
The researcher must be sensitive to the demands of the journalistic
field: he or she must be highly responsive and communicative,
attentive to deadlines, and on call. The researcher must have
knowledge of and access to academic journals and libraries, and access
to a car for retrieving books. He or she must also be adept at
transcribing notes. The position will be paid at $15 an hour for roughly 20
