Senior Cost Accountant (Long Beach, CA)

Qualified candidates must possess a BA or BS degree in Accounting, CMA/CPA preferred, with 7+ years of work experience in development and maintenance of best practices cost accounting systems of manufacturing and distribution facilities, preferably in an auto parts company. Minimum 2 years experience using BPCS or MAPICS or similar, 5 years performing higher level cost accounting and analysis improving accounting controls and accuracy. Proficient at reconciling inventory and cost accounts, computing standard labor, material and overhead and performing cost variance analysis (actual v. standard). One year experience with SOX implementation, writing costing policies and procedures, documentation and desk procedures. Ensure accurate BOMs and monthly inventory valuation. Requires 2 years auditing and physical inventory audit experience including cycle counts. Works cross-functionally with Production Control, Engineering, Material Management and Product Development Departments to understand business processes, control costs and explain variances to improve gross margins. Month end, close journal entries and inventory reconciliations. Develop and track KPIs. Make system recommendations and improvements to achieve department goals. Must have strong Excel skills including pivot tables and must be detailed oriented and organized. 20% travel required.
