The Senior DBA will primarily be responsible for design, development, implementation and administration of database architecture that support business objectives. It will also includes 24×7 database support and the overall database health, maintenance, performance, reliability, and scalability of the databases that power our different applications. He / she will be closely working with Engineering, Product, QA, Project Management, SysOps and other teams to deliver mission-critical applications to support FAN’s advertisers, publishers and end-users.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:
• Design, implement, and maintain 24x/7 high availability production and development databases.
• Participate in database design for new features/functionality.
• Plan and support the implementation of major architectural changes.
• Install, tune and monitor database instances.
• Define and implement maintenance procedures including Disaster Recovery, HA, DB maintenance, Backup solution, etc.
• Provide direction in capacity planning, performance improvements, and storage management in partnership with System Operations and Development teams.
• Ongoing performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
• Interface with System operations and vendors to resolve problems with application/database systems.
• Implement, refine, and maintain database cluster, replication, or failover.
• Develop, refine, and monitor recurring cron jobs and shell/sql scripts.
• Query analysis and optimization.
• Data import and data migration.
• On-call support for production systems.
• Maintain and update database procedures and related documents.QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• 7+ years Database Administration (DBA) experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of direct Oracle or 2+ years of PostgreSQL experience (including clustering, partitioning, high availability, etc.).
• Expert in Performance Tuning, SQL, and Scripting.
• Oracle RAC experience is desirable.
• Strong database troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
• Experience in high transaction rate OLTP environment and supporting VLDBs.
• Knowledge of Linux or Solaris 10 operating systems and scripting language.
• Nice to have MySQL or any other database experience.
• A natural desire and ability to troubleshoot and solve difficult problems is required.
• Willingness to learn and pickup other database technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capable of translating complex business needs into technical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills conducive to team development.
