Rovi is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a leading edge team of developers that are building Rovi’s Cloud Services Platform in Burbank, California. This group is building services that will revolutionize the way people manage their television guidance and entertainment viewing experiences across every Rovi platform. In this role, you will work closely with architects to design, develop and maintain robust, secure, scalable, high-availability and high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities:

-Develop detailed design specifications, unit test plans, and high-quality code. Work with a team of talented software engineers through the entire development cycle, from design through deployment.
-Work with the development team, QA team, and the rest of the Engineering group to define, build, and evolve into a world-class software development organization.
-Provide on-going product maintenance and enhancements to production applications.
-Support, optimize and monitor data stores in development, QA, Staging and Production environments.
-Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.

-Experience with Java with an emphasis on Web Services using REST or SOAP, preferably with the Axis/Axis 2 or CXF frameworks.
-Expert-level experience with MS SQL Server 2005/2008 and/or My-SQL.
-Experience or Familiarity with big data and/or NoSQL solutions such as Hadoop, MongoDB, Big-table or Cassandra.
-Expert-level experience in importing and transforming data through the use of stored procedures, SQL scripts, ETL
Agile SDLC
-5+ years of experience in a team development environment
-BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
-Analytical thinker who is able to resolves ongoing issues or defects, and is often called upon to consult on problems.
-Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
-Have a proven track record of developing high-volume database application software, from initial requirements definition into production; a determination to deliver on commitments.
-Understand the complete software lifecycle and the value of designing and building for quality upfront.
-Must be a responsive, flexible team player that is self-motivated, self-starting, and enthusiastic.
-Must possess a willingness and aptitude to embrace new ideas and master concepts rapidly.
