The Rovi User Experience team is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated Director of User Experience. This person will be primarily responsible for managing a team of creative professionals who are tasked with crafting the experience of the next generation of products targeting the connected living room. These products include Internet connected televisions, set-top devices, interactive tablet /phone applications, remote controls, and other customer premise equipment.
This individual will be a senior member of the user experience team who works collaboratively with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and business partners to define the product experience — including interactive design, information architecture and navigation. The candidate will also be expected to work directly with the Product Team and Art Director to create an aesthetic design, which is appropriate for the market and fitting for the brand. The professional will be required to work with others on the team to set a vision of how various products should interact when they exist in the same environment. This person will also be involved during the planning and research phases and expected to leverage a user-centered process to iterate design comps with consumers directly. All projects should result in an intuitive, simplistic experience appropriate for the desired environmental setting.

Responsibilities
• Successfully direct and own application experiences on the TV, tablets and web and strive to leverage the interaction amongst them.
• Manage an energetic interactive design team who deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Translate requirements into intuitive concepts, sound wireframes, short automated examples and elegant experiences
• Create interaction models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience.
• Regularly iterate design concepts directly with consumers on a regular basis to ensure ease-of-use.
• Work directly with UX Program Management team for project tracking, forecasting, and delivering on-time projects.
• Leveraging internal developers (when appropriate) to create interactive prototypes for trade shows, sales efforts, and user testing.Minimum Qualifications

• User experience expert with at least 10 years of work experience in a user experience design capacity for consumer oriented software products
• Expertise in human interface guidelines, standards, and best practices as they apply to platforms
• Recognized self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and seeks the challenge of winning in a rapidly changing marketplace.
• Results-oriented team player with strong leadership presence
• Leadership style that is based on building a rapport with team members, not ruling the team with an “iron fist”.
• A deep appreciation for simple solutions to complex problems
• An outstanding body of work demonstrating the successful delivery of innovative digital interface design solutions for the Web, television, tablet and/or mobile devices.
• Solid understanding of user research techniques and ability to work with an independent team to assess interactive prototypes
• Strong written and oral communication
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Proficient with MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, Keynote, etc.
• Advanced working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, OmniGraffle, or similar applications.
• Strong knowledge of various Operating Systems, their versions, and design limitations. Knowledge of Webkit, iOS, Android is a plus.
• Expert knowledge of HTML, HTML 5, CE-HTML, CSS, desired.Desired
• 5 yrs+ management experience in User Experience strongly desired.
• Experience with social media, community and web services or applications.
• Expertise in modern software development processes and concepts as they relate to user experience.
