We are a very popular, high-traffic website serving over 6 million monthly unique visitors based in Santa Monica, CA utilizing Microsoft SQL Server 2005. We’re looking for a resourcful Sr. Database Programmer / DBA to head up Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database programming and maintenance (Roughly 70% Programming, 30% DBA). We operate with a small & efficient staff of smart people who like to work with smart people.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
• SQL Server 2005 (knowledge of 2008 is an advantage)
• Experience in database modeling and understanding of database normalization / denormalization theory
• T-SQL programming
  • Writing new and enhancing existing Stored Procedures & Functions
  • FullText Search
  • Tweaking SPs to use the most efficient query plans
  • Scheduling Jobs
• Write ad-hoc query for business reporting
• T-SQL and database server profiling & optimization skills
• Indexing skills and optimization
• Understandings of transaction isolation and concurrency control
• Deep understanding of deadlocks, including how to avoid, catch, and troubleshoot them
• Database maintenance skills include backup, monitoring, reindex, DMVs
• Experience with SSIS development
• Experience in writing CLR in C# is preferred
• Code release, schema & script changes for production release
