STAR Education, one of the leading nonprofits in after-school education, is seeking enrichment teachers to educate and train students in Chess. If you’re reliable, punctual, engaging, passionate about education, and share our vision of building a community of chess aficionados, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re currently looking for both regular and substitute teachers for school sites throughout the Greater LA area. The regular position is currently very part-time, but there are opportunities to sub in other subjects and expand your chess teaching hours over time.

Qualifications

• Experience working with large groups of children (K-6)
• Effective classroom management skills
• Strong chess background
• Rated player and/or experience playing in tournaments preferred, but not required

** Internship Opportunity **

We are also seeking an intern to support our growing chess program. Interns gain valuable experience in developing curriculum, event planning, and improving administrative skills. Qualified interns also have the opportunity to work with STAR Education’s LEGO program. The opportunity for employment at STAR down the road is a possibility with the right candidate.
